About Malören Lodge

About Us – Malören Lodge
We are a small family-run company with a deep love for the place we operate in. Our vision is to offer people the opportunity to experience the vastness, beauty, and stillness of the outer sea – 19 nautical miles from the mainland, on a remote island in the outer Kalix archipelago.

Malören Lodge is housed in historical buildings – Lotsstugan (The Pilot Cabin), with cosy guest rooms and shared spaces, and The Smaller Lighthouse, a former lighthouse keeper’s home with six beds, a spacious living room and a fully equipped kitchen – ideal for families or small groups.

To safely bring our guests to this exposed island, we operate a Stridsbåt 90, a robust military-grade boat built for challenging sea conditions. It ensures comfort and security during your journey toward the horizon.

Malören is a barren and rugged island, shaped by centuries of waves and wind. The name means “round stone,” and that’s exactly what you’ll find – a windswept, stony landscape, open in every direction. It’s a nature reserve and a truly distinctive place, offering an unusual sense of space, stillness, and raw beauty.

During summer, you can walk the island, spot seals, watch seabirds, swim, or simply enjoy the silence under the golden light of the midnight sun. In winter, Malören turns into an Arctic world where we offer snowmobile tours, overnight stays, Northern Lights experiences, ice fishing, skiing on the pack ice, and dogsledding.

We are committed to protecting this unique environment and its cultural heritage. That commitment has been recognized:
🔹 Environmental Award 2020 for our sustainability efforts
🔹 Scandinavian Business Awards 2025:
~ Most Tranquil Holiday Destination – Northern Sweden
 ~ Sustainability Distinction 2025

We are proud and grateful that our efforts in sustainable tourism and heritage preservation have received such recognition – and we remain dedicated to safeguarding Malören for future generations.

Welcome to Malören – a place you’ll never forget.
